avoid the noise

Everyone these days seem to be afraid of silence, of solitude, of stillness. Don’t believe me?! Walk into your local coffee shop, airport, or waiting room. Everyone is filling their mind and silence with their phone. They’re either staring at it, playing on it, or listening to it. Earbuds dangle out of everyone’s ears.

Peer into the windows of the cars that pass you. Most are either talking on their phone, listening to music, or scrolling through their social media.

Walk into a friends home and you will hear the sound of fortnite, or tv. Even if no one is watching...it’s on.
*
Even in our bedrooms, everyone is using sound machines to drown out the silence!

STOP AVOIDING THE SILENCE!
So much good happens when we are alone and alert in our silence. God shows up. Elijah, the prophet, learned that the Lord speaks in a whisper. David, the king, found confirmation that God really is GOD...When he was still! Did you catch that?! God shows up in the quiet! I hear most clearly, directions from the Lord in the silence.

Daydreams & imagination happens when we turn the noise off. Aha moments, solutions, answers, conviction, ideas, & creativity begins to speak in the silence! My favorite time of my day, is between 3:30-5:30am. It’s quiet. It’s stimulating. It’s fresh. The Lord speaks most clearly to me at that time.

If you want to hear what no one else hears, Dream what no one else dreams, meet God in a one-on-one encounter...then stop the noise.

If you don’t care about peace, or clarity. If you don’t care about discovering your purpose or enhancing your passions...then keep turning up the noise.

Take the challenge. For the next 7 days, avoid the noise, when you are alone. I guarantee you will be refreshed!
