One choice can change everything

Back in 77’ I was college bound! My Dad had helped me get accepted due to my poor choice to play through high school. I had my student ID number, my dorm room, and my roommate. 2 months before school, I made a decision to stay in Birmingham, to be near Tammy and persuade her to marry me. I NEVER regretted that choice. It changed everything! That one decision not only led to her saying yes, it took my life down the road to pastoring. Which opened so many other doors. This led to kids, grandkids and so much more. ALL BECAUSE OF ONE CHOICE!

The word “decide” comes from 2 Latin words that means “to kill”. Literally when you make a decision you are killing off other choices!

Making a decision, one decision can change everything. The choice to drink & drive, to start your own business, to move to a new town, to ask them out...all of these have a chain reaction that leads to good as well as poor results.

Some choices have less drastic results. But even small, insignificant choices can lead to incredible adventures.

I’m not trying to strike fear into you, I’ve just lived long enough to realize that some people can’t make good decisions. For many, if they could just string 3 good choices in a row, it would transform their life.

So how do we make good choices? Here’s a few thoughts. Don’t let fear stop you! Ask yourself, is this the wisest thing to do? Listen for the voice of Holy Spirit. Listen to others but never let them have the final say. Don’t always play it safe. Ask yourself these 2 questions:
1. “What’s the worst that could happen?”
2. “What’s the best case scenario?”

Life is short make it count...never be afraid to risk...just think it through first. Never let fear decide!

FINALLY: If you are a Christ-follower, and you truly believe He is able to take the poor choices of our lives and weave them together for good, then after we make our decision...we trust Him fully and enjoy!
